March 02- 06 • School breakfast week

 
The National School Lunch Program is a federally assisted meal program operating in public and nonprofit private schools and residential child care institutions. It provides nutritionally balanced, low-cost or free lunches to children each school day. The program was established under the National School Lunch Act, signed by President Harry Truman in 1946.

Friday 6 • Healthier Living Classes

 

The County coordinates interactive and goal-oriented workshops called “Healthier Living ” for people with chronic health conditions. Caregivers are also welcome to attend. Workshops are held once a week for six weeks: March 6 to April 10 (Fridays) from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the McClellan Senior Center, 1400 Vale Terrace Dr., Vista 92084. March 02-08-N Sleep Awareness Week

 

Sleep Awareness Week is an annual public education and awareness campaign to promote the importance of sleep. The National Institutes of Health estimates that sleep-related problems affect 50 to 70 million Americans of all ages and socioeconomic classes.
The cumulative effects of sleep loss and sleep disorders represent an under-recognized public health problem and have been associated with a wide range of health consequences including hypertension, diabetes, obesity, depression, heart attack, stroke, and at-risk behaviors.Please visit the National Sleep Awareness Week ® in America for more information and resources.

Sunday 8 • International Womens Day

 


The growing international women's movement, which has been strengthened by four global United Nations women's conferences, has helped make the commemoration a rallying point to build support for women's rights and participation in the political and economic arenas.

2015 is the 35th anniversary of the Women’s History Movement and the National Women’s History Project. We are proud that, after decades of dedicated research and technological advances, the stories of American women from all cultures and classes are accessible and visible as never before.

Daylight Saving Time has been in use throughout much of the United States, Canada and Europe since World War I.

In 1966, President Lyndon Johnson signed an act into law whereby Daylight Saving Time begins on the last Sunday of April and ends on the last Sunday of October each year.
