This Supplement finds that, based on the available evidence, the prevalence of mental disorders for racial and ethnic minorities in the United States is similar to that for whites. ..Mental illness can affect anyone regardless of age, gender, race, or income. Roughly, some form of mental illness will affect one in five Americans each year. When treated, rates of recovery are high. However, fewer than half of those with diagnosable mental illnesses will seek treatment. Many reasons exist for not seeking treatment: The San Diego’s Mental Health Act Plan is committed to provide quality mental health services to all person experiencing serious and persistent mental health problems.
