THE RECOVERY HAPPENS MONTH

.....Every day, someone finds their way to wellness through personal courage, spirituality, and the support of a caring community. One of the most difficult hurdles faced by thoseRecovery Month in recovery is the stigma that our society attaches to substance abuse and addiction issues. Even do, there are millions of Americans whose lives have been transformed through recovery. These successes often go unnoticed by the broader population; therefore, a National Recovery Month provides a vehicle to celebrate these accomplishments and helps to spread the positive message that behavioral health is essential to overall health, that prevention works, treatment is effective and people can and do recover. Recovery from Addiction is Possible

.....The 2011 Recovery Month observance aims to educate the public on the positive changes that national health care reform will have on access to needed recovery services for substance use and mental disorders.

.....The Affordable Care Act gives Americans more freedom and control over their health care, as well as new benefits that ensure people will receive the care they need at a more reasonable cost. Recovery Month, officially celebrated each September, has become a year-round initiative that supports educational outreach and celebratory events throughout the year.

OVARIAN CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

....Ovarian cancer begins at a cellular level. Normally, cells grow and divide to form new cells. These new cells take the place of old cells as they die. Ovarian cancer awarenessCancer cells continue to grow and divide. These abnormal cells continue to create new cells forming a tumor.

.....The ovaries are a pair of organs in the female reproductive system. They are located in the pelvis, one on each side of the uterus (the hollow, pear-shaped organ where a fetus grows). Each ovary is about the size and shape of an almond. The ovaries produce eggs and female hormones (chemicals that control the way certain cells or organs function).

....Anything that increases your risk of getting a disease is called a risk factor. Women who have one first-degree relative (mother, daughter, or sister) with ovarian cancer are at an increased risk of developing ovarian cancer. This risk is higher in women who have one first-degree relative and one second-degree relative (grandmother or aunt) with ovarian cancer. This risk is even higher in women who have two or more first-degree relatives with ovarian cancer.
